Living with the river
Water & habitat
Migration corridors, river connectivity and suitable gravel reaches matter. A gauge can describe flow at one point but cannot locate a moving sheefish population.
Seasonal life
Some fish migrate hundreds of miles to feeding or spawning areas; spawning generally occurs in early fall over gravel.
Why this song? Sheefish gets “She.” Sometimes the shortest route from fish name to jukebox is the best one.

Before you go
Sheefish support both subsistence and sport fisheries in Alaska. Local seasons, bag limits and community harvest context should be checked before fishing.
